Prerequisite: none In this introduction to the use of a computer for mechanical drafting and design, students have extensive practical experience with an interactive computer graphics system. Previous computer experience is not needed, but basic knowledge of drafting and x-y coordinates is helpful. Prerequisite: DFT 1320 Students work with computer graphics systems to create two-dimensional and three-dimensional drawings and learn how to create principal views, auxiliary views, and axonometric projections from a single three-dimensional drawing. Other topics include wireframes of revolution and exploded assembly drawings. Credit for this course may be earned through portfolio assessment or departmental examination. Course fee: $60.00

Prerequisite: none Students learn the fundamentals of drafting including lettering, constructions, projections, uses of proper symbols and standards, and the drawing of electronic schematics and wiring diagrams. Prerequisite: DFT 1320 Students will learn to prepare drawings in selected engineering technology environments and import other software applications into AutoCAD. Students develop proficiency in the use of a computer for drafting and design in the field of civil engineering. Independent study is required every week in the microcomputer lab. Course fee: $60.00

Prerequisite: DFT 1320 and ENG 1010; plus three additional credits earned toward the certificate; and permission of the department chair Cooperative education allows students to combine academic study with on-the-job experience by working on paid training assignments coordinated by departmental faculty. The major objective of cooperative education is the application of classroom theory in a work environment. This course is intended for students who are pursuing a certificate in drafting. Grading in this course is pass or fail.

Prerequisite: none Students learn to work cooperatively with people who have physical, mental, emotional, vocational, social, economic, or cultural disabilities. Students examine the structure and availability of human service delivery systems. Compliance with and implementation of federal, state, and local laws are discussed. Other topics include the normalization principle, client rights, sexuality, and deinstitutionalization. Offered evenings, irregularly.

Prerequisite: none Designed to assist volunteers and employees in service delivery areas for the developmentally disabled, this course develops the student's technical skills to facilitate client growth. Students learn to individualize program plans, develop goal plans in the group home that lead to greater independence, and implement those plans through data collection and task analyses. Prerequisite: none Students identify the process and learn skills necessary to place and retain a developmentally disabled person in a supportive home or employment setting. Practical application of daily living skills such as money management are explored. Students learn job coach training skills such as job development, placement, site training, and assessment. Offered irregularly.
