(formerly CSC 260-261) A protracted field experience offering theory-practice opportunity. Activities will be supervised by participating personnel at place of business. Course requires 40 hours in the field per credit, meetings with a faculty sponsor (12 1/2 hours of meetings for 1 credit), and a satisfactory rating by field supervisor. Prerequisites: CSC 102, 120, 121, 244 with at least 12 CSC credits taken at Molloy. Permission of Chairperson required. (Offered upon request) 3-6 credits

(formerly CSC 296) Students will be assigned a programming project which can take one of several forms. The project might be to develop a useful class--for example for sets or fractions. The project might require the development of a program, for example for a CA or a GA, which will then produce data to be analyzed by the student. Another possibility is a major group project, for example writing an SIC assembler, which will be modularized with individual students responsible for the different modules; the students will then unite the modules into a working unit. Each semester the nature of the project will depend on the number of students and student interest. Prerequisite: CSC 244, 323. Pre- or Corequisite: All other CSC courses required for the major. Various software applications will be utilized to illustrate concepts such as hardware components, the use of printers, mouse manipulation and Windows file folder and disk management. Techniques will include creating a database by entering and modifying data; appending, inserting and deleting records; and understanding database functions, such as, store, recall, replace, sort and copy.
