    (formerly BIO 291, 292) Independent study in an area approved by the chairperson for Senior Biology Majors with a minimum index in Biology of 3.0. The student works under the guidance of a member of the biology faculty. Faculty member must consent to sponsor student prior to approval by Departmental Chairperson. (Offered upon request) 1-3 credits

    (formerly BIO 280, 281) Qualified Biology Majors undertake a research project which entails literature search, laboratory work, conferences and reports. Library research and design for laboratory experimentation must be completed in BIO 480. Faculty member must consent to sponsor student prior to approval by Department Chairperson. Qualified students complete their research and this project results in a written paper containing the results of their experimentation. Prerequisite: Senior standing and minimum 3.0 index in Biology. BIO 480 is a prerequisite for BIO 481. (Offered upon request) Lab Fee-$50.00 each course. 3, 3 credits

    (formerly BIO 293) Independent library research thesis to be supervised by faculty mentor according to departmental guidelines which will include final due date. Required for Departmental Honors. Prerequisite: GPA 3.5 by Spring of Junior year and Chairperson's approval. (Offered Fall) 1 credit

    (formerly BIO 270 and BIO 490) A study of a selected topic in biology that investigates the reciprocal influence of scientific thought/scientific investigation and contemporary society. The investigation will demonstrate acquired knowledge of specific scientific research, methods and techniques, and critically analyze how such inquiry may raise questions that challenge social or moral standards and potentially reshape the design and direction of science. Required of all students matriculating for B.S. (Biology), B.S. (Adolescent and Childhood Education Programs). Prerequisite: Senior status or approval of Chairperson. (Offered Spring) 1 credit

    (formerly ECO 101 and 201) The course provides an introduction to the world of business and career options in business. Emphasis is on the framework of contemporary business, business ethics and social responsibility, economic challenges facing business, competing in global markets, human resource management, marketing management, managing financial resources and managing technology and information. 3 credits

    (formerly BUS 140) A general survey of law designed to acquaint the student with the legal environment in which business decisions are made. Emphasis is on the basic law of contracts and business organizations. (Offered Fall, Spring) 3 credits

    (formerly BUS 141) A continuation of Business Law I with emphasis on domestic and international sales and lease contracts, negotiable instruments, the banking system including checks and e-money, agency and employment, government regulation and personal and real property. Prerequisite: BUS 240 with a "C" or better. (Offered Spring) 3 credits

    3 credits/3 contact hours This advanced level course enables students to review and apply managerial and organizational concepts studied in previous courses to small businesses. Topics include strategic planning and development, span of control, and operational practices, culminating in the development of a comprehensive business plan. Prerequisites: Prerequisite: BUS 110, Completion of majority of core courses in program is recommended

    (formerly BUS 161) A continuation of Accounting I, including cash flow, corporations and financial statement analysis. An introduction to managerial accounting concepts and their relevance to business decisions. A study of cost behavior, cost volume profit relationships, standard and process costs and budgeting to foster meaningful comprehension of managerial accounting. Prerequisite: BUS 260 with a "C" or better. (Offered Fall, Spring) 3 credits
