The course offers an in-depth study of all the functions of and features of installing, configuring and maintaining Windows XP Professional as a client operating system. Topics include: the major features of the Windows environment; the architecture of Windows XP Professional; whether to do an upgrade or fresh installation; unattended installations; system utilities such as Microsoft Management Console, administrative tools, task scheduler, and control panel applets; file systems and storage (FAT, FAT32, NTFS); sharing of files, users, groups profiles and policies; logon authentication; encryption with EFS; network protocols; Remote Access Service (RAS); printing and faxing; performance tuning; application support; Windows XP Professional registry; boot process; fault tolerance; and troubleshooting.
