Advanced genetics with an emphasis on genomics and bioinformatic approaches to addressing biological questions. Topics will include comparative genomics, uses of proteomics, computational biology, and advances in biotechnology related to genomic study, such as large-scale sequencing, microarrays, and gene expression profiling. The relationships between genome research and biomedicine will be discussed. Online genomics tools and databases will be used for computational analyses. Lecture and laboratory.
