What did it actually entail to slice an existing country in half How did people living in both East and West come to rely on the Wall to define who they were What physical or symbolic walls do we erect in modern identity politics, and how are our worldviews shaped by existing political and geographic boundaries In order to probe these complex ramifications of the Berlin Wall, students analyze political speeches, espionage thrillers, love stories, films, Wall graffiti, interviews, news reports, and monuments and memorials.
