Staff. Pre-requisite: THEA 676 or approval of instructor. (1) Advanced study in two primary pattern development techniques as well as with patterning software. Some time will be spent on dressmaker details and simple tailoring. (2) Men’s and women’s tailoring techniques. Focus will be placed on traditional methods of hand and machine tailoring as applied to theatrical attire. (3) Millinery. Focus will be placed on the primary construction methods for historic and/or contemporary hats: felt bodies, and frames. Various types and styles of finishes and decoration will also be explored.
