Staff. Pre-requisite: PSYC 1000, H1010 or 1020. An investigation of educational programs for young children and/or parents of young children based on cognitive developmental theory, learning theory, and others. Curriculum development and the evaluation of program effectiveness are discussed.

Prof. Lockman. Pre-requisite: PSYC 3210. The cognitive, perceptual, and social development of the human infant are reviewed. Research findings and methods are emphasized.

Pre-requisite: PSYC 1000, H1010 or 1020. Lectures cover the function and structure of the nervous system and the role of brain activity in the regulation of behavior. This course provides psychology majors with a first exposure to the biological bases of behavior and is not recommended for students who have taken other courses in this area of study. Note: Credit may not be received for both CELL 123 and PSYC 3300. (Same as NSCI 3300.)

Prof. Cunningham. Pre-requisite: PSYC 1000, H1010 or 1020. A study of a wide range of topics relating to psychology generally, and African Americans specifically. Topics include personality, education, psychological assessment, racism, psychology in communities, and research.

Prof. Wilson. Pre-requisite: PSYC 1000, H1010 or 1020, and sophomore standing. An introduction to the psychological aspects of the behavior disorders.

Prof. Overstreet, Prof. Varela. Pre-requisite: PSYC 3210. Co-requisite: PSYC 389. An introduction to clinical disorders and exceptionalities occurring in childhood and adolescence. The course requires a practical experience in area schools or community organizations. Concurrent registration for one hour service learning credit in psychology is required. Note: Two hours per week in area schools or community organizations.

Staff. Pre-requisite: PSYC 3230 or approval of instructor. A study of the basic principles involved in guiding the behavior of preschool children. Note: Students should apply to instructor at least one semester in advance. Satisfies, in part, psychology laboratory requirement only for students graduating in the Teacher Certification Program. Lecture, two hours; laboratory, six hours. Students must reserve six hours a week between 9 a.m. and noon or 1 and 4 p.m. for work in the nursery school. Offered: Spring semester only.

Prof. Cunningham. Pre-requisite: PSYC 1000, H1010 or 1020. A study of development through the adolescent years. Emphasis is on cognitive, social, physical, moral, sexual, and political development.

Staff. Pre-requisite: PSYC 1000, H1010 or 1020. This course focuses on critical topics that are related to a child becoming a healthy functioning social being. These topics include: biological contributions, temperament, attractiveness, attachment, gender differences, parenting styles, sibling relationships, peer relations, moral development, aggressiveness, identity, and schools.
