A survey of middle range models in international political economy stressing the analysis of assumptions, methodology, and empirical evidence. Emphasis will be given to the interaction between domestic politics, the state and international relations. Selected topics such as exchange rate fluctuations, capital flight and external debt will be addressed within the context of political development.

Emphasis is on American security problems and policy-making.
