Overview of techniques and concepts of banking operations; laws and regulations which govern bank operations; interaction with the Federal Reserve System. This course will include the history of banking and bank organizational structure.

Discusses market operations for both listed and unlisted stocks, how to evaluate potential stock investments using fundamental analysis, the mechanics of margin buying, and the pros and cons of international diversification. Bonds, common stock, and preferred stock are explored.

Extensive coverage of spreadsheets and databases and how they are used in business decisions. Students will also create simple presentations and web pages. Includes Visual BASIC for Applications and macros. Course assumes students have a working knowledge of Windows, Microsoft Word, and the World Wide Web.

The goal of the course is to educate future entrepreneurs and small business owners in the tools and skills required to successfully manage the financial challenges of a small company or startup.

Introduction to environmental law with emphasis placed on the interrelationships between federal, state and local environmental regulations and requirements. Topics covered include: hazardous waste regulations, solid waste management programs, the Clean Air Act, OSHA regulations, the Clean Water Act, environmental audits, and issues relating to the impact of environmental laws on society.
