This course is designed for the student to promote the functional health patterns of the bio- psychosocial, spiritual state of patients. Emphasis is placed on coordination, management, and care of multiple patients. Clinical experiences are provided in acute and community health care settings. Prerequisite: NURS 101, NURS 102, NURS 111, NURS 121, NURS 131, NURS 141, NURS 251, NURS 261. Co-requisite: NURS 271.

This course is offered for students who have completed the theory content of an Associate Degree in Nursing program or its equivalency and need to document clinical competency across the life span. Entry is by permission of Nursing Director after review of transcripts. Clinical Nursing Competency provides the student with a variety of clinical experiences designed to assist the student in developing competent skills and function in the role of the nurse in the maternal/child, medical/surgical and Mental Health settings. The client is viewed as an integral being whose physical and psychosocial needs must be dealt with in the healing process.

This course is a basic course in keyboarding/typing. Emphasis is on development of correct keyboard finger position and technique with some application of simple business letters and reports.

in Career Life Skills is a course designed to assist students in making the transition from a higher education setting to the world of the workforce. Topics covered will be employment information a selected profession and the development of specific employment seeking skills such as resume writing, mock interviews, interview follow-up and employer expectations. Included (but not limited to) will be an overview of federal employment law, appropriate workplace and interview attire, and applicability of current employment trends in drug testing, background/criminal checks, credit check and the opportunity to interact with human relations professionals in local industry.

In this course, students will develop competency in machine transcription. Machine operation, keyboarding skill, and format styles are combined to produce mailable copy. Prerequisite: OTEC 102 or equivalent.

This is an individually structured course. The anticipated time and effort required by the complexity of the area of study will determine applicable credit hours (1-3). Class assignments and work load will be established on a contract basis and students can generally anticipate one contact hour per credit hour per week in the form of appointments with the instructor, consultation with project personnel, class work, and report and progress sessions. Prerequisite: permission of instructor.

This introductory physics course is designed for the general science and liberal arts student. Coursework includes the study of forces, projectile motions, properties of matter and heat. Prerequisite: MATH 113 with MATH 150 recommended but not required. Co-requisite: concurrent enrollment with PHYS 130.
