4 credit hours The student will compare wood and various products, proper wood joinery, and use of machinery related to cabinetmaking. Students will layout, construct, finish, and install a complete set of cabinets including countertops.

4 credit hours The student will perform the finishing process of the structure and will decide what design criteria are necessary to create a quality product. Students will choose, assess and appraise materials used to finish the product, and they will also investigate elements and influence of a good design.

4 credit hours The student will identify and discuss various physical properties of concrete, its proper use, placement, and finishing techniques as well as optional finishes, admixtures, and applications. Students will set up and use a laser and manual transit to evaluate a piece of property for proper drainage, usage and orientation of a building to be built on site.

4 credit hours Students will gain actual experience in the construction of concrete foundations as they recognize type and sizes of foundations needed for different load-bearing conditions along with the application of codes, forming materials, hardware, and the component of concrete. Students will also gain experience, recognize symbols and methods used in drawing and reading blueprints.

3 credit hours The student will develop a complete material list along with cost estimates for materials, labor, and equipment needed for the construction of a home. Students will design a course of study, research and do activities that will develop knowledge and/or skills in an area that has special interest to the student.

3 credit hours Students will learn how to install metal doors and related hardware in steel framed, wood framed, and masonry walls along with finishing methods and materials used to finish walls and ceilings in commercial buildings.

4 credit hours Students will get on-the-job experience with qualified personnel on a construction site. The instructor/ advisor, the construction site supervisor/coordinator and the student will agree upon works hours and objectives. Student's progress will be gauged by meeting objectives and by a written report from the construction site supervisor/coordinator.

4 credit hours The student will be introduced to the basic structural components, fastening methods, and assembly techniques for engineered metal buildings. Framing with metal studs, proper assembly and materials used in framing roofs, and basic welding will be covered.

3 credit hours Students will learn various forming methods, materials, procedures, and quality control methods that are commonly used in construction for building site structures, walls, and floors.

4 credit hours Students will perform according to safe and ethical standards of the dental profession. This course delivers the basic background for orientation to dental assisting and the Dental Assisting Program. The Dental Assisting Program Handbook is reviewed and all safety practices are studied. Dental ethics and jurisprudence are highlighted throughout the course. DA principles also encompass the principle of working as a team member, the operation and maintenance of dental equipment, positioning of the dental team and patient, identification of instruments and instrument transfer, protection of the oral cavity during dental procedures, and the application of expanded functions in Kansas.
