4 credit hours Students will work in an office environment. The students will secure employment and demonstrate skills required for successful performance. The student will display the ability to communicate effectively with others and perform job tasks accurately and efficiently. Integration of classroom training with on-the-job experience will allow the student to relate more meaningfully to their future office careers. (Prerequisites: BAT 119 and PDV 107).

1 credit hour Students will be introduced to traditional supervisory office management practices, learn about human relations and how to succeed in all areas of their lives, and how to handle change and conflict in a diverse work force. Students will read, discuss, and analyze the different characteristics needed to succeed and supervise others in the office environment. Readings will be based on Stephen Covey's book, The 7-Habits of Highly Effective People. (Prerequisite: BUS 125).

3.00 Credits
3 credit hours This course provides students with an understanding and use of relational database software in a realistic business environment. Topics include: relational database objects, enhancements of forms and reports, analysis and manipulation of data and Integration of database software with other software programs. This course may be used to prepare for MCAS Access Certification. (Pre-requisite: BUS 123).

2 credit hours Students will become knowledgeable of the paralegal career field and the paralegal's role as a professional member of the legal team. Students will be introduced to an overview of legal assistant functions in the law office, how laws are made, the federal and state court systems, criminal and civil laws, interviewing and investigation skills, law office administration and information management, and an overview of selected law practice specialties. Emphasis is placed on legal ethics, professional regulation, and current trends and issues in the legal field. (Prerequisites: BUS 125 and BAT 245).

2 credit hours Students will become proficient in legal terminology by studying areas of criminal law, torts, contracts, personal property, court and trial procedures, wills and estates, real property, family law, negotiable instruments, and business organization and bankruptcy. (Pre-requisite: BUS 125).

3 credit hours Students will use various computer applications to simulate real world office applications that will reinforce students' skills. Students will use e-mail, Microsoft Access, Excel, Word and PowerPoint, Adobe software, the Internet, and HTML language to create and update reports, databases, newsletters, process payroll, presentations, web pages, and create correspondence. Students will demonstrate interpersonal skills and work ethics. Students will schedule appointments, make travel arrangements, and demonstrate management of time and office workflow effectively. (Prerequisites: BUS 224, BUS 225, BUS 226 and BUS 227).

2 credit hours This course is designed for students to learn information management application tools to send and receive e-mail, organize schedules and events, and maintain contact lists, to-do lists, and notes. (Prerequisite: BUS 123).

2 credit hours This course prepares students to plan and create a Web site, plan a page layout and set page properties, format text, create and apply cascading style sheets, use and manage graphics, create and manage Web site links and navigation bars, work with tables and layers, and work with HTML forms. (Prerequisite: BUS 123).
