3 credit hours Students will evaluate and construct common DC and AC circuits. Students will construct, evaluate, and repair common digital circuits and devices. The student will examine the various components and test equipment used in digital electronics. Extensive hands-on application of circuitry is stressed. No prerequisites required.

3 credit hours Students will analyze the hardware components of a personal computer and evaluate their relative industry standards in terms of features, performance, and cost. They will analyze and evaluate industrystandard operating systems and their relative software components in terms of features, performance, and cost. Students will perform installations and upgrades of hardware and software components of the PC and demonstrate preventive maintenance techniques on these components. They will interact with customers in order to troubleshoot and repair malfunctioning customer's PCs. Upon completion of the course students will be encouraged to take the A+ certification exams. No prerequisites required.

3 credit hours Students will examine the essentials of computer networking by comparing and contrasting industry- standard network models, topologies, cabling, protocols, and architectures. They will design and construct computer networks using these models, topologies, cabling, protocols, and architectures. Students will also analyze common preventive maintenance and security practices used in modern networks. Upon completion of the course students will be prepared to take the Network+ certification exam.

4 credit hours Students will install, configure, manage, and troubleshoot Microsoft Exchange Server email messaging service software on a Windows server. They will examine and perform common tasks utilized by network administrators in the management of users, mailboxes, and address lists in Exchange Server. Students will also analyze and demonstrate basic preventive maintenance and security practices in this software. Upon completion of the course students will be prepared to take a Microsoft Exchange Server certification exam.

4 credit hours Students will install, configure, manage, and troubleshoot Microsoft SQL Server database service software on a Windows server. They will examine and perform common tasks utilized by network administrators in the management of files, objects, users, and queries in a SQL database. Students will also analyze and demonstrate basic preventive maintenance and security practices in this software. Upon completion of the course students will be prepared to take a Microsoft SQL Server certification exam. If a student passes the certification exams associated with the first three of the five Microsoft courses, and one of the last two, they will become a Microsoft Certified Systems Administrator (MCSA).

3 credit hours Students will install, configure, manage, and troubleshoot the Microsoft Windows client/workstation operating system. They will examine and perform common tasks utilized in the management and troubleshooting of the NTFS file system, network printers, and common LAN protocols. Students will also analyze and demonstrate the proper use of file permissions in securing the NTFS file system. Upon completion of the course students will be prepared to take the Microsoft Windows client certification exam and to become a Microsoft Certified Professional (MCP).

3 credit hours Students will install, configure, manage, and troubleshoot the Microsoft Windows server operating system. They will examine and perform common tasks used by network administrators to manage basic and dynamic disks, monitor the server, manage user/workstation accounts in the Microsoft Active Directory, and to install and configure server hardware devices. Students will also analyze and demonstrate fundamental practices used to secure user access to the Windows server and its file system. Upon completion of the course students will be prepared to take the Microsoft server certification exam.

3 credit hours Students will install, configure, manage, and troubleshoot common network services in a Microsoft Windows LAN environment. They will examine and perform common tasks used by network administrators to manage services such as Dynamic Host Configuration (DHCP), Network Address Translation (NAT), the Domain Name System (DNS), the Windows Internet Naming Service (WINS), Microsoft Software Update Services (SUS), Active Directory, and routing and remote access. Students will also analyze and demonstrate fundamental security practices in a Windows LAN environment. Upon completion of the course students will be prepared to take the Microsoft network infrastructure certification exam.

3 credit hours Students will install, configure, and troubleshoot the Linux operating system. They will examine and perform fundamental user and file system management tasks utilized by network administrators on Linux servers.

3 credit hours Students will install, compile, configure, and troubleshoot common devices and software packages in the Linux operating system. They will examine and perform fundamental network service management tasks utilized by network administrators on Linux servers. Students will also analyze and demonstrate basic preventive maintenance and security practices in a Linux environment. Upon completion of the course students will be prepared to take the LPI (Linux Professional Institute) Junior Level Administration certification exams (101 & 102).
