All students must comply with institutional internship policy, have instructor approval and complete a written training plan. In order to enroll in the course the individual must have maintained at least a 3.0 GPA in his/her core coursework in the Division of Arts.

3 credit hours Students will develop skills and knowledge designed to prepare them for an administrative support role in an office for the twenty-first century. Students through hands-on activities, Internet activities, presentations, and group activities will learn to be a productive member of an office team, learn about interpersonal cultures, develop skills in technology, written and oral communication, leadership (soft skills), interpersonal, and critical thinking. Students will learn to use a reference manual that provides the basic rules that apply in grammar and writing. Students will use a 10-key calculator using touch method to add, subtract, multiply, divide, and compute percents and discounts. Students will key a 3-minute timing at 50/wpm. (Prerequisites: BUS 125, BAT 123, BUS 103, BUS 229, and BUS 123).

3 credit hours This course provides students with an understanding and use of spreadsheet software in a realistic business environment. Topics include: formulas, charts, templates, data, tables, multiple worksheets, analysis of data and integration of spreadsheet software with other software programs. This course may be used to prepare for MCAS Excel certification. (Pre-requisite: BUS 123).

3 credit hours Students will continue to build on the skills developed in Office Management I. Students will increase keyboarding skills, develop skills using the keyboard number pad, and apply skills in transcription and filing. (Prerequisites: BUS 229 and BUS 125).
