(2 Credit Hours) An advanced course in sports medicine which covers techniques of evaluation and rehabilitation for injuries to all body parts common in athletics. The course is a lecture/laboratory course, where actual hands-on practice of the evaluative and rehabilitation skills occurs simultaneously with lecture and reading assignments. Discussion and objective application will also be a large part of the course. Prerequisite: PE 251. F, S

(3 Credit Hours) This course teaches preventive methods such as first aid, taping, bandaging, therapeutic heat and cold, conditions, injury recognition, crisis procedures and other information specific to athletic injuries. This course is a lecture and discussion course with daily reading assignments. Through lecture, reading, and discussion, the student should develop safe and scientific methods of preventing and treating athletic injuries. F

(2 Credit Hours) An advanced course in sports medicine which is designed primarily as a lecture/discussion course with reading and assignments for comprehension and clarification. Covered aspects of therapeutic modalities include purposes of modalities pain, electricity, electrical applications, ultrasound, infrared modalities (heat and cold), as well as other common treatments of sports injury. Included will be indications, contraindications, and specific usage of each modality, as well as application for choosing particular modalities in injury situations. Prerequisite: PE 251. F, S

(3 Credit Hours) A lab experience for the student to learn and practice skills needed in their profession. Class fulfills requirement needed for oral portion of the NATA exam for athletic training students.

(3 Credit Hours) This course is designed to have participants select, establish, maintain, and break down campsites with consideration for group safety, avoiding damage to equipment, and minimizing harm to the environment. The participants will learn and practice proper techniques of waste disposal with safety and minimal environmental impact. The student will learn the proper way to pack a neat, well-balanced and systematically organized back pack which is comfortable to wear and efficient to use while traveling in the back country.
