(3 Credit Hours) This is a course designed to teach the student how to handle first aid emergencies in an outdoor setting. It provides students with knowledge of how to handle these emergencies with little or no equipment, to improvise, overcome and adapt to almost any situation in the outdoors and deal with the first aid emergency with confidence and skill. This class is taught in fall and spring semesters, and may be used for EMT re-certification.

(8 Credit Hours) This course is available to previously licensed LPNs and LPNs who have not been actively working in the clinical area. The course reviews the concepts, theories, and skills required to successfully practice as a practical nurse. Included are nursing standards, legal aspects, communication skills, basic human needs, principles of growth and development, and nursing process. Care of persons with common recurring health problems is addressed. The refresher course consists of 60 theory hours and 180 supervised clinical hours. D AH 201 Nutritional Gerontology (3 Credit Hours) This course is designed to provide an understanding of the nutritional needs associated with the aging process. Emphasis is placed on meeting the nutritional needs of the older adult. D

(3 Credit Hours) An introductory course that provides a multidisciplinary focus on the aging process and the roles of the aged in society. The student will have the opportunity to learn from specialists in the field of gerontology. It is designed for individuals who want to learn about their own aging process and/or help others understand the aging process. D

(4 Credit Hours) The course is designed to expand the pharmacology knowledge base for allied health students, practical and registered nurses. The curriculum examines the pharmacology of various topical, bloods, endocrine, anti-infective, anti-neoplastic, gastrointestinal, cardiovascular-renal, autonomic nervous system and central nervous system drugs.

(3 Credit Hours) Students will survey American Indian cultures north of Mexico from the time of the first European contact to present times. Students will acquire and demonstrate knowledge of detailed ethnographic and ethnohistorical comparisons of selected North American Indian areas. D

(3 Credit Hours) This course seeks to widen a student's perspective and cultural understanding through on-site observation, participation, and face-to-face interaction with persons from different cultural backgrounds. This course is organized around an experiential model of learning that emphasizes personal and intellectual enrichment through first-hand experience. This course offers students the opportunity to learn outside of the classroom, experience a variety of different cultural milieus, and reflect upon the nature of one's own cultural background.
