    This work experience in drafting is culminating experience for the student pursuing an AAS drafting program. It provides a significant opportunity for the student to apply previously learned principles in the industrial employment setting. The student works under the general supervision of a College instructor and the direct supervision of an industry supervisor(s). Evaluation of the student's work will result from the combined observations of all supervisors. This project is under the direction of the College instructor regarding the organization at which this experience is gained, including its product(s) and process(es). A student who has been employed in drafting is to consult the program coordinator prior to enrolling for this course. If the coordinator determines that the student's previous employment experiences make it inappropriate to register for this course, the coordinator will identify an elective in lieu of this course and send a written notice of this course substitution to the Director of Admission and Records to be used for graduation clearance. This work experience requires 160 hours or more of on-the-job activities.     This course presents a study of cams, linkages, actuators, belts, chains, and gears. Included is the selection of suitable material and determination of part configuration required to withstand applied forces based on the study of motion and mechanisms. This course provides an in-depth study in welding design, pipe drawing, intersections and developments. Problems are based upon the principles of fabrication, pipe specifications, size and location, and surface developments. An additional fee is required.     This course is designed to introduce students to the basic economic principles, and how to think about the economy in terms of the impact of these principles. Topics include: economic systems, demand and supply theory, government and its role, and fiscal and monetary policies. The course is intended for students who plan to pursue a bachelor's degree as well as those who desire a better understanding of the economy. While there is no prerequisite for this course, students are encouraged to complete basic courses in related areas prior to enrollment. Current topics such as the environment and public policy are considered. The course is designed for students planning to pursue a bachelor's degree as well as those who desire a better understanding of the economy.     This course provides an orientation to the teaching profession. It is designed for those who are considering a career in education. Among the topics studied are Motives for Teaching, Social Problems and Tension Points in Schools, Curriculum, Technology, Legal and Ethical Issues, and Philosophical Foundations. In addition, there is a minimum 32-hour required field experience component. One hour of the four-hour credit is field experience. A majority of this work must be done outside of class time.
