An emphasis on the exploration and integration of a variety of media (2-D, 3-D, visual, animation, audio, print, digital, etc.) in order to design dynamic and appropriate solutions. This will be accomplished through practical design projects having solutions that incorporate two or more media. Computer applications appropriate to the integration of the different media will be stressed, including use of Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign, QuarkXPress, Macromedia Dreamweaver, Flash, Fireworks. Prerequisite: ART 430 or consent.

Group-study project aimed at experimentation in areas not covered in other studio courses. May include such topics as ceramic sculpture, book arts, seminar or travel. Prerequisite: Junior standing or consent.

Reading, research, and creative work in the area of studio art. Student must work two or more semesters in a given medium before applying for independent study. This course is exclusive of the senior project. Prerequisite: Consent.

This Capstone course provides a focal point and closure of a liberal arts education within the context of the major discipline. As a departmental offering, this course focuses on the development of an independent project in the area of emphasis and expands to include breadth of knowledge and synthesis. Interdisciplinary integration of knowledge and research is emphasized. General education and major outcomes are integral to course assessment. Prerequisite: Senior standing with a minimum of 42 credit hours in general education completed.

(Proof of certification can replace this course.) Instruction and demonstration in the principles of first aid and cardiopulmonary resuscitation, through standards established by the American Red Cross, are the basis for this course. It is required that each student have current First Aid and CPR certification for all clinical experiences.

Lecture, discussion and laboratory course introducing athletic training students to basic procedures and philosophies of athletic training. Students gain knowledge of the basic science relationship to the prevention, care and recovery of athletic injuries. Students will begin practicing fundamental skills and orient themselves to the athletic training setting.

An overview course in health, wellness, nutrition, general medical conditions, disabilities and disease. The history of disease, principles of disease occurrence and the body's defenses to disease are presented. General characteristics, predisposing factors, symptoms, prevention, and treatment of selected diseases and illnesses are discussed. Wellness and nutrition principles and their incorporation into a healthy lifestyle are also presented.

This course certifies a student in CPR for the Professional Rescuer and First-Aid: Responding to Emergencies. This course is for ATHT majors only. Prerequisite: HLTH 111 or CPR, First-Aid, and AED certification.

An advanced course for athletic training students. This lecture and lab format will cover the examination and treatment approaches for athletes with musculoskeletal dysfunctions of the upper and lower extremities. Each extremity will include a review of anatomy. The course will focus on theory, immediate care, biomechanics, pathology, assessment and management of athletic injuries to the extremities. Prerequisite: ATHT 130 or instructor consent. Corerequisite: ATHT 301.

An advanced course for athletic training students taken concurrently with Advanced Assessment of Athletic Injuries I. Practical assignments are completed in the Clarke College affiliated athletic training facilities to orient the student to specific skills in athletic injury assessment. Corequisite: ATHT 300.
