Develops the skills of curriculum construction and teaching methodology for health and kinesiology at the secondary level. This course studies the competencies covered in the teaching progression. Included in this course are the National Physical Education and Health Standards. This course is to be taken before the professional semester. Prerequisites: KINS 233, KINS 234, KINS 248.

A study of the physiological components of human movement with special attention given to the analysis of movement problems. The course provides the student with an understanding of the physiology of the human body as it applies to exercise science. The purpose of the class is to be able to apply the components taught in physiology to teaching, coaching and health. Prerequisite: KINS 249.

Prepares student for administrative functions in the areas of health, physical education, recreation and athletics both in education and other private and public sectors. The course includes organization and administration of the various phases of kinesiological strategies, athletics and intramurals. Standards, policies, programs, supervision and problems of each are stressed. Prerequisite: KINS 330.

Individual off-campus laboratory or field experiences that provide valuable, supervised practical experience. Prerequisite: KINS 448, BUMG 354 or senior standing.

The Capstone course will review and assess major and general education outcomes. A required capstone paper will integrate information, experiences and documentation gained through the primary internship, major and general education course work. Prerequisite: senior standing.

Students learn the numeric and algebraic skills necessary for future mathematics work. The focus is on the development of the real number system with emphasis on relationships and applications. The course may not be taken for credit if a grade of C or above was achieved in a higher mathematics course. A TI-83 graphing calculator or equivalent is required. Credit is not applicable toward the 124 hours required for graduation unless MATH 113 Intermediate Algebra is satisfactorily completed.

Designed for strengthening the mathematical backgrounds of elementary teachers, this course may cover topics such as numeration systems, number systems, problem solving, and topics in number theory, statistics and geometry.

Enables students to appreciate mathematics in the world around them. The emphasis is on reading, writing and conceptual understanding as opposed to rote skills. Topics may include networks, voting, games, statistics, coding, tiling, symmetry and patterns, infinity, personal finance, and the fourth dimension. This course is designated as a mathematics/natural science division general education course. This course is designated as a mathematics and natural science division general education course, and fulfills the college mathematics requirement.

Explores linear, quadratic, exponential and logarithmic functions. This course may include polynomial functions of higher order, rational functions and systems of equations. Students develop their skills by approaching functions numerically, algebraically, graphically and verbally. A TI-83 graphing calculator or equivalent is required. This course may not be taken for credit if a grade of C or above was achieved in a higher mathematics course. Prerequisite: Appropriate score on placement test or approval of mathematics department.
