Infection Control provides competencies that include understanding of infection control in regards to work-related exposure; definition of communicable disease; definition of infectious disease; understanding how diseases are transmitted; be able to list common signs and symptoms of related diseases; and list exposure risks by activities that increase exposure potential.

Emergency Management Internship will provide students with practical experience in an actual work environment. Emphasis is placed on all phases of the industry in the student's area of specialization (Local or State Emergency Management Office, Public Health, or Business Continuity). Students are acquainted with occupational responsibilities through realistic work situations and are provided with insights into management application on the job. Topics include: adaptability to the job setting, use of proper interpersonal skills, application of emergency preparedness skills and techniques, and professional development.

Emphasizes the development and improvement of written and oral communication abilities. Topics include: analysis of written techniques used in selected readings; practice writing, editing, and proofreading; research and oral presentations. Homework assignments reinforce classroom learning.

Emphasizes a functional and comprehensive review of writing skills for business. Topics include: grammar and usage, sentence structure, capitalization, punctuation, basic business documents, research, and oral communications.

Provides knowledge and application of principles of written and oral communications found in business situations. Topics include: planning, outlining, and writing letters and reports from raw data; revising letters and reports; listening; reading; and speaking. Keyboarding skills and knowledge of word processing software required.

Emphasizes essay development. The units will concentrate on the various modes of development-illustration, comparison/contrast, causal analysis, process analysis, and persuasion-as well as grammar and mechanics. Students will write well-organized essays using information or ideas obtained through assigned readings or researched topics.

Emphasizes the student's ability to read literature analytically and meaningfully, and to communicate clearly. Students analyze the form and content of literature, and practice various modes of writing. Topics include: reading and analysis of fiction, poetry, and drama; research; and writing about literature. An oral presentation is required. This course fulfills a student's humanities requirement.

Emphasizes practical knowledge of technical communications techniques, procedures, and reporting formats used in industry and business. Topics include: planning, organizing, and editing reports; designing effective graphics; and writing a formal technical report. Area II - Social Science (5 hours)

Introduces the function and operation of the primary tools of TV production (video, audio, and lighting) to develop the student's awareness and understanding of studio procedures. The course includes the concepts, terminology, and equipment of a multi-camera, live-on-tape production.

This is a studio-based television production course that builds on basic skills developed in ENT 100. Students will enhance their understanding of the roles of staff and crew persons in video production. Simple pre-production of audio, graphics and video elements will be required for laboratory exercises.
