Provides historical, theoretical, and experiential understanding of program and management practice associated with the use of "challenge courses" in education, recreation and therapeutic settings. Technical skill development, facilitation strategies, safety procedures, equipment management, and program design are addressed. Field trips may be required. Laboratory required.

Prerequisite: ODED 3010. Provides an overview of administrative responsibilities and procedures related to outdoor education programs and services. Professional standards, human resource development, program planning and implementation, site planning, strategic management, program evaluation, and funding strategies are addressed. Site visitation required.

A discussion of current topics and issues in Outdoor and Environmental Education. Topics and instructor will vary.

Supervised research project on a topic of special interest. Approval of the Coordinator of Outdoor Education Academic Programs and the Department Chairperson is required.
