Continuation of clinical training and performance of procedures from previous clinical courses. An in-depth study of Quality Control/Quality Assurance practices for the general radiology department will be included as well as a processing/image analysis unit. "Spot" evaluations, written and practicum, will also be performed periodically throughout the course to prepare students for the National Registry upon program completion. Prerequisites: RADT 2002, 2231. 1-29-5.

RDNG 3410 - Teaching Reading in Grades K-2 Prerequisite: Admission to Teacher Education, SPEC 3110 This course provides teacher candidates an opportunity to learn and practice developmentally appropriate reading instructional strategies with an emphasis on phonemic awareness,phonics, and fluency as well as approptiate uses of visual literacy to enhance instruction.

RDNG 3420 - Teaching Reading in Grades 3-5 Pre-Requisite: Admission to Teacher Education and RDNG 3410 This course provides teacher candidates an opportunity to learn and practice developmentally appropriate reading programs with an emphasis on fluency, vocabulary study, and comprehension including appropriate uses of visual literacy to enhance instruction.

Prerequisite: Admission to Teacher Education, MGED 3010 This course introduces teacher candidates to reading to learn, writing to learn, writing across the curriculum, and an introduction to adolescent literature appropriate for middle school instruction and learning as well as opportunities for integration of appropriate technologies across these areas.

RDNG 4021 Reading and Writing Issues in the Secondary School 2 credits Pre-Requisite: Admission to the Teacher Education Program This course introduces teacher candidates to reading to Learn, writing to learn, writing across the curriculum, and issues associated with reading and writing in the secondary school. This course includes a field experience in the schools.

RDNG 4410 - Teaching Writing, Langauage Arts, and Literature Prerequisite: Admission to Teacher Education, RDNG 3410 and RDNG 3420 Emergence of reading/writing processes in P-5 years and the methods of teaching language arts and integrating children's literature in the curriculum as well as apects of visual literacy that positively impact instruction.

RDNG 4420 - Prescriptive Literacy Instruction Co-Requisite: ECSP 4191 This course provides teacher candidates an opportunity to college and analyze student data and then prescribe the principles underlying assessment and correction of learning difficulties related to reading during the completion of their capstone professional internship.

4 class hours 4 Credits Prerequisite: None This course provides an introduction to college-level reading by focusing on basic reading strategies and vocabulary enrichment. READ 0098 is intended to help students acquire skills needed to read textbooks, periodicals, and class assignments with reasonable speed, greater comprehension and increased retention. Strategies needed for Literal comprehension, Inferential comprehension, and Analytical comprehension are presented with application exercises. In addition, vocabulary enrichment is taught through direct study, in context, and by structural analysis. Entry into READ 0098 is either by choice or placement with a Reading COMPASS score of 56 or below or Reading CPE score of 69 or below. Learning support, institutional credit only.

4 class hours 4 Credits Prerequisite: READ 0098 with a "C" or better (or by CPE/COMPASSplacement) This course continues the introduction to college-level reading begun in READ 0098 but focuses more on application of advanced reading strategies and vocabulary. Students acquire skills needed for advanced levels of Literal, Inferential, and Analytical comprehension. Vocabulary enrichment is also advanced with the use of college-level texts. Test-taking strategies are introduced to enable students to meet the requirements of the University System of Georgia College Placement Exit Exam. Entry into READ 0099 is either by choice, or placement with a Reading COMPASS score of 57-73 or Reading CPE score of 70-74. Learning support, institutional credit only.
