PSYC 2104 Introduction to Abnormal Psychology 3 credit hours An introduction to maladaptive behaviors and psychological disorders as classified by the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders. Students will be introduced to historical and clinical perspectives, symptoms, etiology, and treatment through the applicatino of psychological theory, and research findings. Biological, psychosocial, and sociocultural influences will be examined.

RADT 1001 Patient Care and Ethics 3 class hours, 3 credits Pre-Requisite: Acceptance into Radiologic Science Program and successful completion of the Regents' Reading and Writing Test. Introductory course to the field of Radiologic Science with a concentration on patient care and ethics. Emphasis is placed on medico legal issues, medical terminology, basic pharmacology, venipuncture, charting, basic radiation protection, interpersonal relationships, and methods of patient care.

A study of radiographic positioning procedures covering the upper and lower extremities, thoracic cavity, should girdle, abdomen, and pelvic girdle. Concepts include radiographic anatomy, positioning, and film analysis. Radiographic protection is stressed. Prerequisite: Acceptance into Radiologic Science Program. 3-2-4.

A study of radiographic positioning procedures covering the gastrointestinal, biliary, and genitourinary systems, vertebral column, and skull. Prerequisites: RADT 1001 and 1002. 3-2-4.

A course designed to build a basic understanding of the theory and practical applicatin of radiographic techniques. The course provides the learner with concepts related to radiographic film, processing, intensifying screens, quality factors, and exposure conversion techniques. Prerequisite: RADT 1001, 1002 and 1007.

A lecture course designed to give a basic understanding of the manner in which radiation interacts with the biological system. Emphasis is given to concepts that increase one's awareness of the responsibility to protect the patient, public, and self from unnecessary radiation dose. Prerequisite: RADT 1003, 1112. 2-0-2.

RADT 1006 Radiographic Positioning III 4 credit hours A study of radiographic positioning and procedures for the vertebral column, bony thorax, cranium, genitourinary system, and some additional studies. Concepts include radiographic anatomy, positioning, and image analysis. Radiation protection is stressed as each component of the course is covered. This is a required course for the Radiologic Science cohort.

RADT 1007 Introduction and Ethics in Radiologic Science Content is deisgned to provide an overview of the foundations in radiography and the practioner's role in the health care delivery system. Principles, practices, and policies of the health care organization(s) are examined and discussed in addition to the professional responsibilities of the radiographer. Content is designed to provied a fundamental background in the elements of ethical behavior. The student will examine a variety of ethical issues and dilemmas found in clinical practice. An introduction to legal terminology, concepts and principles will be presented. Topics include misconduct, malpractice, legal and professional standards and the ASRT scope of practice. The importance of proper documentation and informed consent is emphazised. This is a required course for the Radiologic Science cohort.
