    NURS 4201 Management and Leadership 4 credits 2 class hours, 6 clinical hours Pre-Requisites: NURS 4100, NURS 4101 This course focuses on principles of leadership and management intergral to nursing practice. The emphasis is on priority setting, delegation, communication and clinical application of the principles of professional practice roles among groups of patients. Nurses' roles as educator, advocate, adn consumer of research, leader/manager, change agent and provider of care within the community are examined. Collboration with other health care providers to improve evidence-based outcomes of patients is emphasized. The health care system is analyzed to assess the legal, political and socioeconomics of health care access and delivery. Completion of this course is under the guidance of a faculty advisor and a clinical preceptor.

    NURS 4202 Nursing Practicum 8 credits 4 class hours, 12 clinical hours Pre-Requisites: All Nursing Courses Co-Requisites: NURS 4201 This is the culminating course for the baccalaureate student. It is designed to fully integrate the students into the profession of nursing. Students will focus on management of groups of clients in the acute care setting. Focus will be on priority setting, integration of research into clinical practice and evaluating patient care and staff. The focus of this course will be to intensively prepare the student for NCLEX as well as provide an opportunity to apply holisitcally all that has neen learned from the foundational courses. To that end, the in-class courses will review systems and disease with nursing interventions; provide in-class discussion opportunities utilizing evidence-based research care and holistic treatment in the hospital and acute setting.

    NURS 4203 Nursing Practicum 2 seminar hours, 12 clinical hours This course focuses on the synthesis of knowledge from past and current learning experiences and facilitates the RN student's transition to professional practice emphasizing principles of perpetual learning and caring practices. It also focuses on communication and clinical application of the principles of professional practice roles including educator, consumer of research, leader/manager, and provider of care within the community. Collaboration with other health care providers to improve evidence-based outcomes of individuals, families, and communities in a diverse society is emphasized. Completion of this course is under the guidance of a faculty advisor and a clinical preceptor.

    NURS 4300 Special Topics in Professional Nursing This course will provide the student with an opportunity to explore additional or more in-depth areas in nursing through faculty guided studies. These guided studies may include but are not limited to projects, international study, clinical experiences, readings and/or investigational studies. Permission from the department faculty is required to register for this course. 1 to 3 credit hours for class instruction. Clinical experience hours require 3 contact hours per 1 credit hour.

    1 class hour 1 Credit The student will be introduced to general plant safety and their responsibility within a plant safety program. Discussions will be on a variety of subjects such as health and environment control, equipment handling, personal protection, and fire protection. A basic understanding of OSHA standards will be mastered through discussion as the course progresses.

    3 class hours 3 Credits This course is the first in the series of Process Control courses that covers the function of basic devices for measuring and controlling different kinds of variables that the student will encounter. In addition, course content includes a comparison of analog and digital devices and introduces programmable logic controllers.

    3 class hours 3 Credits The basic principles are discussed as the student progresses through the chapters defining and explaining the devices used in the measurement process. Specific details will emerge as the students learn to convert between English and is units, and the operation of the instruments.

    3 class hours 3 Credits This course defines force, stress and strain, and explains how it all comes together in the process control system. It addresses various topics and covers position measurements by means of detection devices. Additionally, the student will explain and describe measurement tools.

    3 class hours 3 Credits This course is the first of a series of four courses that introduce the beginning Process Control student to the relationships among pressure, flow, level, and temperature. It defines the units of pressure and discusses Boyle's and Charles' Laws which help explain the relationships. It will also describe and explain the operation of sensors and transducers as used in pressure control circuits.

    3 class hours 3 Credits Beginning with the principles of fluid flow, this course describes and explains how the primary devices used in the process affect fluid flow. Discussions and demonstrations will compare the various devices and aid in the student's understanding of the applications and uses of the many kinds of positivedisplacement meters.
