MGMT 4000 Operations Management 3 class hours, 3 credit hours Traditional, total quality, just-in-time, best cost, capacity and constraints management philosophies applied to manufacturing and services. Operations management is the integration of these philosophies and takes a systems perspective to long and short range planning, scheduling, executing, controlling and measuring operations and related functions in providing effective business processes to achieve organizational goals.

This is a study of the business formation process. It focuses on chacteristics of successful entrepreneurs, creativity, risk taking, and the necessary planning associated with new business ventures. Students will develope an idea for a new business venture, conduct a feasibility analysis, identify resources, and conclude with a comprehensive business plan.

MGMT 4750 Management of Innovation and Technology 3 class hours, 3 credit hours This course aims to equip students with the knowledge to understand and the skill to participate in the management of technological innovation at the operational and strategic levels. The course addresses the planning, development, and implementation of technological capabilities to shape and accomplish the strategic and operational objectives of a business organization. Topics of study include disruptive technology, dimensions, life cycle, and diffusion or technology Technological forecasting and environmental monitoring, role of technology in strategic management, managing change, assessment, justification, and financing new technology and mangement of NTBF (new technology based firms.)
