Topics include lung volumes, ventilation tests, pulmonary mechanics, diffusion ventilation, blood flow, normal and abnormal results of tests results, and various equipment used to perform these tests. A more in depth look at the cardiovascular system with a review of the pulmonary system. The course will detail diagnostics and therapeutics related to these systems. These to include various types of pressure monitoring, cardiac output monitoring, intraaortic balloon pumping, open heart and thoracic surgery, fluid and electrolytes, and pharmacologic intervention.
