The focus of this course is the development of a classroom environment that fosters creative expression implemented by an adult who encourages the expression through process-oriented activities. Students will plan and implement developmentally appropriate activities that support social, emotional and physical expression through art, music, dramatic play, and block activities. Students will learn to promote sensory integration and perceptual skills as children progress through the stages of creative development. In addition to class meetings, this course requires practicum hours in a childcare facility. Lab fee required.

Students are taught how to equip, maintain, and plan activities in a learning environment. Specific attention is given to class management by materials and activities in learning environments. This course provides and overview of early math and science experiences in early childhood programs for children 3-6 years of age. The student will present an organized, sequential approach to creating a developmentally appropriate math and science curriculum for preschool children. This course is designed to follow the guidelines and standards of NAEYC. In addition to class meetings, this course requires practicum hours in a childcare facility.

This course will provide an overview of curriculum models for infants through preschool children in early childhood education. Caregiving responsibilities within models of early childhood programs are presented. Students will be able to utilize teaching strategies appropriate to their curriculum goals as well as implement long and short-range curriculum goals. This course is a co-requisite to the Online CDA Core. Students will conduct practical work in a child care environment with children between the ages of 0-5. Students will implement activities that coincide with topics in the Online CDA CORE. Corequisite: HEV 0010.

This course is a practicum in which the student is able to integrate online instruction with work experience in an early childhood setting. Students will plan, implement, and evaluate activities relevant to children ages 0-5. Corequisite: HEV 0011 or HEV 0012 or HEV 0013.

This is a live distance learning course consisting of researchbased practices and principles for providing children, birth through age five, with a strong foundation in early reading and writing within a developmentally appropriate approach. Students will apply concepts learned in Part One of the series within monitored early childcare centers. In addition to class meetings, this course requires practicum hours in a childcare facility.
