This introductory course to Wireless LANs focuses on providing an understanding of how to set up wireless solutions for small installations (home, small office, hotspots). It covers a comphrehensive overview of technologies, security, and design best practices with particular emphasis on hands-on skills in small LAN environments. Lab fee required.

This course is designed to provide students with a complete foundation of knowledge for entering into or advancing in the wireless networking industry. It covers basic RF theory to link budget math, including topics from troubleshooting to performing a site survey. This course delivers hands-on training that will benefit the novice as well as the experienced network professional. Lab fee required. Prerequisite: CET 1600C or CET 1485 or CCNA Certification.

Advanced Novell Network Management provides students with the advanced management and troubleshooting knowledge pertaining to a Netware 6 network environment and its components using the Web services, tools, and utilities that ship with NetWare 6. Prerequisite: CET 2488C.

This course provides students with knowledge and skills to perform network management tasks that are the most common, yet critical to administrators of LANs and WANs. Emphasis is on the use of network management utilities of NetWare 6, deployment of NetWare 6 features, and troubleshooting skills that a student in an entry-level network administration position must have to manage the daily network operations of an organization. Lab fee required.

Advanced features of the UNIX operating system will be covered. Topics covered will include but not be limited to, networking protocols, shell scripting, awk programming, and system administration. Lab fee required. Prerequisite: CET 1526C.

The goal of this course is to provide students with the knowledge and skills required to install, configure, administer, and troubleshoot the Microsoft SQL Server client/server database management system. Students will also gain an understanding of the architecture of Microsoft SQL Server. Knowledge of the Window 9X interface, Windows NT, DOS, and hardware is required. Lab fee required. Prerequisite: CET 2535C or CTS 1171 or CTS 2131C.

The course teaches essential networking concepts, design and engineering of a residential network and its components, and provides information on home network installation activities like structured wiring, trimming, terminating and troubleshooting. Upon completion of this course, students will be prepared for the two CompTIA HTI+ certification exams: Residential Systems and Systems Infrastructure and Integration. Lab fee required.

The course covers the advanced router configurations, LAN switching, network management and advanced network design. This is the third of a four-part series designed to prepare students for the Cisco Certified Networking Associate Exam. Lab fee required. Prerequisites: CET 1600C and CET 1610C.

The Building Scalable Cisco Networks (BSCN) course focuses on using Cisco routers connected in LANs and WANs typically found at medium to large network sites. Upon completion of this training course, students will be able to select and implement the appropriate Cisco IOS(tm) services required to build a scalable, routed network, BSCN is part of the recommended training path for those students seeking the Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP), Cisco Certified Design Professional (CCDP), and Cisco Certified Internetwork certifications. Lab fee required. Prerequisite: CET 2620C or proof of CCNA Certification validated by department chair.
