Students will be introduced to the building systems associated with a residential and commercial type structure. Particular emphasis will be given to the H.V.A.C., mechanical, plumbing and electrical systems. Different types of systems in each discipline will be discussed. The student will be exposed to design processes and system selections for each building system used. Lab fee required. Prerequisites: BCN 2272, BCT 2730, ETI 2420C, all with grades of C or better.

This course will provide a comprehensive overview of the different types of contracts used within the general contracting process. This course will also focus on local and state code requirements, handicap issues and specification development. Lab fee required. Prerequisites: BCN 2272, BCT 2730, ETI 2420C, all with grades of C or better.

This course is an overview of several project scheduling methods for construction, including Gantt charts, logic, diagrams, critical path method, calendar day scheduling, and project expediting. Lab fee required.

This course is an advanced course in project scheduling methods and cost control tracking, including Gantt charts, logic diagrams, critical path method, calendar day scheduling, and project expediting. Students will schedule a three story commercial facility. All scheduling logic, manpower assessment and cost control information will be input into the CPM scheduling program (Primavera software). A wide variety of reports will be produced and presented in a formal client presentation. Lab fee required. Prerequisites: BCN 2721, BCN 2272, BCT 2770, BCT 2730, ETI 2420C, all with grades of C or better.

This course is scheduled for individual students who wish to explore topics not covered in the curriculum. The student must present a design of the study (learning contract) to the faculty member who is to direct the work. Approval from the department chair or director is required prior to registration.

This course is designed to provide students the opportunity to apply classroom theory to practical, work-related applications. Students must complete at least one semester at Seminole Community College with a GPA of at least 2.5 and must receive approval from the Cooperative Education Coordinator prior to registration. Seminars may be required. Through various combinations and repetition of coop courses, it is possible to earn up to nine coop credits.

This course introduces students to the different types of plans included within a construction set of drawings and how they convey the scope of work included in the construction contract (architectural, structural, plumbing, HVAC, electrical), including the symbols and details utilized within the documents and how the specifications identify the materials and methods of construction. This is a Credit-by-Exam block course for apprenticeship students only.
