The course includes a study of atomic and molecular structure, chemical reactions, the periodic classification of the elements, problem-solving, and other selected topics. Prerequisites: AHS 1200310 or AHS 1200370 and AHS 1200380.

The study of natural laws and their relationship to physical phenomena, the theories and laws governing the interaction of matter, energy, and the forces of nature. Included topics are kinetics, dynamics, work, and power, motion, forces, energy, matter, thermodynamics, sound and light waves, atomic structure, electricity and magnetism, and nuclear physics. Real-life practical applications of natural laws and their uses in science and technology are stressed. Prerequisites: AHS 1200310 or AHS 1200370 and AHS 1200380.

A study of the development of the United States from 1860 to the present, with an emphasis on the social, economic and political factors that have contributed to the growth of the country. Special attention is given throughout the course to contemporary issues.

The purpose of economics is to provide students the opportunity to acquire an understanding of the way in which society organizes its limited resources to satisfy unlimited wants. The student will be introduced to the major characteristics of the mixed market economic system in the United States and how the basic economic questions are answered. The major emphasis is to provide the students with an understanding of the forces of the marketplace by examining the effect of their role as producer, consumer, saver, investor, resource owner, voter and taxpayer in the system.

The purpose of this course is to provide students the opportunity to acquire an understanding of American political system and political behavior. Basic aspects of the federal government are studied. Emphasis is placed on content and interpretation of the Constitution, Federalism, the Congress, the Presidency, and the federal court system as related to current problems in civil liberties, economics and foreign policy.

The purpose of this course is to provide students the opportunity to acquire an understanding of the American legal process. Appropriate concepts and skills will be developed in connection with the content that follows: an understanding of the study of historical antecedents for law, constitutional guarantees of citizens, different kinds of laws, comparison of adult and juvenile justice systems, the value of law in society, the role of law enforcement officials, and the importance of the adversarial relations.

The purpose of this course is to provide students the opportunity to examine our criminal and civil justice systems. The content should include, but not be limited to the following: the need for law, the basis for our legal system, cause and effects of crime, consumer fraud and consumer protection, legal and social consequences of drugs and the individual's role in maintaining a just society within the law.
