Prerequisite: AP 221 Develop complex designs using the master pattern. Create patterns for suits, capes, hoods, and slacks. The development of original ideas is stressed. Fundamentals of grading are introduced.

Emphasizes creating garment information and specifications at different stages of development, from design to costing to manufacture. Execute style packages and line plans for sample development.

Co-requisites: AP 334 and AP 336 Learn standard draping and patternmaking practices of the knitwear industry, including industrial methods of measuring, sewing, and finishing, to develop original knit designs.

Prerequisite: AP 331 Continues work of AP 331, stressing new and more-specialized methods of knitwear draping, patternmaking, and sewing, with attention to research, costing, and line development.

2.5 credits; 1 Lecture and 3 LABORATORY hours per week Co-requisite: AP 331 The hand knitting machine is introduced as a tool for designing knitted fabrics. Learn the design aspects of yarn types, color, fabric structure, sizing, and proportion, and study the effects of current fashion trends on the knitwear field. Create original fabrics for use in AP 331.

Prerequisites: AP 211, AP 221 and AR 211 or appproval of instructor Explore the use and understanding of stretch, knit, and woven fabrics to create body contouring designs for the innerwear, sportswear, activewear, and eveningwear markets. Apply advanced draping and patternmaking skills to create original designs. Study manufacturing and merchandising for this segment of the industry.

Prerequisite: AP 334 or approval of chairperson Gain knowledge of technical line development and execution through the study and use of the software program, Primavision, by Lectra Systems. Original concepts are translated into technical design factory packages ready for sample development. Emphasis is on specifications and construction details involved in woven and knit fabric development.

Prerequisite: PH 371 Photography students learn about the factors that influence the design and presentation of a collection. Working with fashion design students, they study the importance of the market, branding, trends, and the structure of the design house.
