Prerequisites: CET 2620, or Current CCNA Certification. Voice over IP (VoIP) provides the foundation for gaining hands-on skills and significant understanding of IP based voice packet telephony. The hands-on course also prepares students to use available tools to evaluate the efficiency of IP voice networks. In addition, students will learn how to analyze, discuss, and demonstrate cost vs. call quality issues, and discuss the key standards and technologies in VoIP. Four contact hours: three lecture hours; one laboratory hour. A.S., A.A.S.

Prerequisite: CET 2620C, or current CCNA Certification. This course is designed to provide students with classroom and laboratory experience in the fundamentals of computer and computer network security. Instruction includes, but is not limited to, legal aspects of computer crime, cyber-crime culture, basic networking topics, disaster planning, viruses, denial of service attacks, firewalls, Network Address Translation (NAT) fundamentals, intrusion detection fundamentals, remote access, Windows 98/NT/2000 security fundamentals, Novell security fundamentals, and UNIX/LINUX security fundamentals.

Prerequisite: CET 2660. Security Policies and Procedures is an introduction to security policies from an Information Technology perspective. The aim of this course is to provide information about security regulations and frameworks. Coverage includes: information security regulations, policies specific to industry sectors, including financial, healthcare and small business, the Sarbanes-Oxley Act, the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act, the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) and The Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA).

Prerequisites: CET 1854C, CEN 1301C, CTS 1171. Wireless Networking Administration is a mid-level course that prepares students to install, manage and support wireless networks in environments of all sizes. It provides an in-depth look at the theory, hardware, software and solutions used in today's wireless networks. Coverage includes basic RF theory, link budget math, antenna concepts, wireless infrastructure equipment, spread spectrum technology, wireless standards and organizations, 802.11, troubleshooting, Wireless LAN security and site surveys.

Prerequisite: CEN 1320C or CET 2615C . This course is designated to be the last course before graduation. Students will work at a selected, supervised MIS site. Work site, supervision and objectives must be approved by the Program Director. Final grade will be based upon completion of training objectives, supervisor's evaluation and final report.

Students will learn how microcomputers can be used as tools in the solution of business-related problems. Specifically, Microsoft Office Suite (in a non-secretarial environment) will be taught. This will give the student the capability of using these techniques in the study of other courses in computer information systems as well as in other programs. For this course, the laboratory time required averages 3 hours per week. Hands-on labs will be used to reinforce class work.

Project Management is an introductory course that provides students with a working knowledge of basic project management concepts and common project management tools. It examines the business, interpersonal and technical project management skills required to successfully manage projects with a technology component. The fundamental building blocks of project management are addressed, including project planning, organizing, team building and effective control mechanisms.

Prerequisite: CGS 1061C or CGS 1100. This course will provide students with hands-on experience and skills with an electronic worksheet and its use as a financial planning tool for business. Students will learn to use the various functions and commands of the electronic spreadsheet for such applications as sales forecasts, financial statements, cash flow analysis, stock market calculations, expense analysis and control, budgets and plans, and others. Hands-on labs will be used to reinforce class work.

This course will provide the inexperienced business user with the knowledge and skills necessary to browse the Web, communicate via e-mail, and participate in a news or discussion group. It will also provide the student with an understanding of the Internet in general, and the technological and business directions in which the development of the Web is headed. The audience is business users with little or no particular online, Internet, Web, or e-mail experience.

Prerequisite: CGS 1555. This course introduces the necessary knowledge and skills required to develop and start a business on the Internet. Topics include an over view of Internet commerce, business basics, advertising, marketing and security issues.
