Prerequisite: PGY 2801C or Instructor Permission This is an advanced course in digital photography. Using Adobe Photoshop, students will integrate the principles of traditional photography with contemporary digital imaging. Using their images, students will explore commercial layout and design techniques, creative use of type within their images and the "digital studio" to create imagery unattainable through traditionalmethods. Students will be encouraged to create advanced self-promotional and portfolio pieces. A digital camera with adjustable functions is required.

Prerequisites: GRA 1100C and CGS 1061C. This is an introductory course to multimedia presentations. The course covers the aesthetic and technical aspects associated with presentation development. Students will have hands-on experience in the production process from beginning (needs assessment), through design, to creation and finally presentation. The class will focus on functionality and practicality. We will cover some or all of the following software: Adobe (Elements and PhotoShop), and Apple (iMovie and Keynote), Macromedia (Flash) and Microsoft (PowerPoint). Students will work with all component parts of multimedia (text, graphics, photos,audio, video, and animation).

Students, without the necessity of prior experience, will be introduced to several historically continuous open arguments such as the nature of reality, the possibility of knowledge, the nature of the human race, freedom of will, and the relationship between the individual and society.

Students study major techniques of deductive and inductive reasoning including the use of language, fallacies, and guarding against errors in thinking.

Prerequisite: Admission to the Physical Therapist Assistant Program; Corequisites: PHT 1250C and PHT 2220C. This course is a lecture/laboratory course designed to introduce the student to the basic principles of biomechanics and kinesiology as they pertain to human movement. The student will obtain a greater knowledge of the osteology of the human body and will learn to identify anatomical landmarks through palpation skills. The student will also receive detailed instruction in myology and neurology of the abdomen, back, pelvic girdle, and lower extremities as well as introduction to the upper extremity, head, and neck. Manual muscle testing, basic therapeutic exercise, as applied to the lower extremities, and gait evaluation is also included in this course.

Prerequisites: PHT 1128C and PHT 1250C; Corequisites: PHT 2252C and PHT 1213C. This is a lecture/laboratory course designed to give the student detailed instruction in the myology and neurology of the face, neck, shoulder girdle, and upper extremities. The lab portion of the course includes manual muscle testing and basic therapeutic exercise principles as applied to the face and upper extremities and will enable the student to identify anatomical landmarks through palpation skills. The course also covers basic neuroanatomy and motor learning as they relate to physical therapy.

Prerequisites: PHT 1128C and PHT 1250C; Corequisites: PHT 1129C and PHT 2252C. This is a lecture/laboratory course that introduces the student to the theory and practical applications of the modalities and treatment procedures used in physical therapy. The physiological effects, indications, and contraindications, and application of these treatments are presented. These include thermal and mechanical agents, electrical stimulation, and chest physical therapy.

Prerequisite: Admission to the Physical Therapist Assistant Program; Corequisites: PHT 1128C and PHT 2220C. This is a lecture/laboratory course in which the student performs activities and modalities basic to physical therapy patient care. Emphasis will be on the development of psychomotor skills and an understanding of patient safety and general indications/contraindications associated with each procedure. Student will become proficient in the use of medical, anatomical, and physical therapy terminologies.

Prerequisites: PHT 1129C, PHT1213C, PHT 2252C, PHT 2252C, BSC 2086C, and PSY 2012 This course provides the opportunity for the student to deal with patient care on a daily basis and begin to operate in a professional clinical setting. Observation, interpersonal skills, and application of skills learned in the classroom under close supervision of a clinical instructor are the primary emphasis of the affiliation.

Prerequisite: Admission to the Physical Therapist Assistant Program; Corequisites: PHT 1250C and PHT 1128C This is a lecture/laboratory course, which provides an introductory study of the neurophysiological, musculoskeletal, and cardiovascular basis for application of therapeutic exercise. The student will learn various therapeutic exercise techniques and the basis of these techniques for application to patient care in rehabilitation and as preparation for the second part of this course, PHT 2221C, in which therapeutic exercise techniques are more specifically applied to specific diagnoses and functional limitations.
