Prerequisite: MAC 2312. The emphasis is on the nature of differential equations, classifications, methods of solution, the Laplace transform, and the application of differential equations to physics, chemistry, biology, and engineering. Appropriate for students majoring in mathematics, engineering, or science. Graphics calculator TI-83 or equivalent required.

3.00 Credits
A study of the functions, institutions and methods of marketing goods and services. Relates marketing to the total economic structure and emphasizes the importance of the consumer as the center of focus. This course constitutes a broad overview of the research, planning, development, organization and implementation of marketing functions associated with meeting the needs of manufacturers, wholesalers, retailers, industrial and governmental entities and final consumers.

2.00 Credits
Prerequisites: ENC 1101, MTB 1103 and approval of program director This course provides a selected and planned work-based experience that will provide students with an opportunity to enhance workplace skills through a supervised practical experience related to their career objective. Work site, supervision and objectives are to be approved by the program director. Depending upon course credit, a minimum of 75 clock hours of work site training and supervision are required to complete the practicum. The program director and/or instructor will evaluate student performance based upon completion of course objectives and feedback provided by the work site supervisor. This course is designated to be completed during the last term before graduation.

3.00 Credits
This course is for students who need to refresh basic arithmetic skills and develop beginning algebra skills. The arithmetic topics are developed to facilitate the learning of corresponding algebra skills. The algebra topics are introductory in nature and are carefully developed. Credit in this course does not count toward graduation.

4.00 Credits
Prerequisite: BSC 1005C, BSC 1010C, or BSC 2085C. This course is designed to provide a background in basic microbiology for students in allied health fields. Within each microbial group, pathogenic microorganisms are included along with their effect on the human body as well as their spread and control. Course coverage also includes microbial genetics, virology, and immunology. Laboratory exercises are designed to reinforce principles discussed in lecture and to teach basic microbiological procedures such as aseptic technique and media preparation as well as isolation, cultivation, and staining of selected microbes. Biochemical characteristics of microbes will also be studied with regard to importance in identification of disease.

Prerequisite: Placement at college level or completion of required college prep courses. Student will learn scientific investigation through observations, measurements, analysis, and prediction as applied in the study of physical laws governing the dynamics of the atmosphere, weather processes and climate systems. Topics include, but are not limited to, developments of weather fronts, thunderstorms, tornadoes and hurricanes as well as socio-environmental issues such as air pollution, global warming, and ozone hole.

Prerequisite: MAT 1033 or appropriate placement examination score. This course introduces students to non-algebraic principles, probability, descriptive statistics, geometry, numeration systems including metric, and deductive and inductive reasoning. While some of the CLAST topics are studied in this course, MGF 1106 is not designed to prepare a student for CLAST. Scientific calculator required. Graphing calculator allowed.

Prerequisite: MAT 1033 or appropriate placement examination score. This course is designed for students who do not intend to take other mathematics courses except, perhaps, MGF 1106. The course introduces students to non-algebraic mathematics that is applicable to real-life situations. Topics include financial mathematics, numbers and number systems, history of mathematics, elementary number theory, and voting techniques.

Prerequisite: MAT 0024 or appropriate placement examination score. This course is designed to encourage current or future early childhood educators to create an active learning environment that fosters curiosity, confidence, and persistence in children as they learn math. Understanding the importance of mathematical relationships, number sense and problem solving will be emphasized. This course is designed for students in the Early Childhood Education AAS program and does not meet math requirements for other AAS programs or AS/AA programs, including Elementary Education.

3.00 Credits
Students will investigate the principles and problems inherent in personal selling which include: prospecting, pre-approach, approach, demonstration, handling objections, and closing and follow-up skills. Students learn proper attitudes and personal characteristics needed for dealing successfully with the public on a business, personal, and professional basis.
