Prerequisite: Permission of program director. This course provides an overview of the primary responsibilities of an officer. Special attention is placed on the supervisory role of officers relative to those being supervised and recognition and perception skills needed by the officer. Objectives addressed include those specified by the Criminal Justice Standards and Training Commission.

Instruction will include a physical fitness program that will engage the student in activities focusing on strength, muscular endurance, cardiovascular, flexibility, coordination, agility, power, balance, and speed.

This course provides the officer with fundamental knowledge of and use of a dart-firing stun gun. Upon completion, the officer will have a better understanding of how a dart-firing stun gun works, what effects a dart-firing stun gun has on the human body, and the necessary medical considerations for individuals exposed to a dart firing stun gun. Additionally, this course satisfies the statutory requirements of F.S. 943.1717(2) for an officer to use a dart-firing stun gun in Florida.

Prerequisite: Permission of program director. Skills needed for riot and disturbance control and firefighting are studied and practiced. Course includes methods of riot prevention, handling of unusual occurrences, what to do if taken hostage, and emergency procedures. Prerequisite: PSY 2012. This course concentrates on the explanation and understanding of psychological abnormality. The curriculum will deal primarily with symptomatic patterns, causation, and treatment approaches of psychological disorders. This course explains major types of psychological disturbances and maladaptive behavior as well as various diagnostic categories, terminology and therapeutic approaches.

Prerequisites: CET 2660, CEN 1305, CET 1610, CTS 1111. Hardening the Infrastructure is an advanced level security course that trains students to evaluate and strengthen networks from attack. Coverage includes: contingency planning, network scanning and discovery methods, virus, Trojan and worm threats to the network, social engineering techniques, privilege escalation, keystroke logging, denial of service attacks, exploiting password weaknesses, security on the Internet and the WWW, router security and creation and implementation of Access Control Lists.

Prerequisite: CGS 2561C or CET 1173C Students will learn about the advances in the telecommunications and networking fields. Topics explored are: history, current technology, hardware, software and future directions. Students will participate in real world case studies dealing with system design, cabling, telecommunications and networking.

Prerequisites: CET 2850C, CET 2660, CEN 1305. Wireless Networking Security is an advanced course that prepares students to secure wireless LANs of all sizes. This is an intense hands-on class that utilizes the latest enterprise Wireless LAN security and auditing equipment from leading vendors. This course addresses the most up-to-date WLAN intrusion and DOS tools and techniques, functionality of the 802.11i amendment to the 802.11 standard, the inner-workings of each EAP type used with wireless LANs today, and every class and type of WLAN security solution available on the market,from wireless intrusion prevention systems to wireless network management systems.

Prerequisite: CET 2850C and CEN 1305 Wireless LAN Analysis is an advanced course that provides students with the necessary skills to analyze and troubleshoot wireless LANs. This is accomplished by providing a thorough education in the 802.11 frame structure, the frame exchange processes specified by the 802.11 standard and extensive hands-on training in the installation, configuration, and utilization of market-leading analysis products.
