This course is designed to introduce the participant to the readingrelated skills and learning strategies at the various cognitive levels as needed in the various content areas; the study of readability and text structures; the study and application of various teaching strategies, and the use of related materials. The course includes an introduction to the design and use of informal and formal assessment techniques pertinent to the middle and high school level.

Field focus will be whole class with a minimum of 15 hours. This module is the culmination of the teacher education professional five year program. Topics will include: an analysis and synthesis of the student teaching experience; an in-depth research project on one aspect of teaching and the refinement of the Professional Development Plan that extends into the first year of teaching. All teacher education candidates will complete this module with emphasis on their chosen concentration (Elementary Education or Physical Education) through collaboration with their peers and/or colleagues from the student teaching internship that demonstrates that their teaching impacts K-12 learners and their development as teacher-leaders.
