The goal is to provide the student with knowledge and experience of mind/body self-healing skills, multi-ethnic alternative medicine theories, practice environments and interventions that can be integrated into nursing and/or the nurse's personal lifestyle. The philosophical assumptions of complementary and alternative approaches will be examined through the application of critical thinking. Students will become familiar with current evidenced-based peer-reviewed literature. Controversial modalities will be critically examined to understand how these modalities improve health and well-being.
