This course surveys issues, technologies, and skills relating to the application of data communications and telecommunications technology in business. Students will develop an informed perspective on the revolutionary new field of electronic commerce. The course covers data communications technology, such as internetworking, local area networks, wide area networks, network operating systems, communications protocols, firewalls, and network security. The course will also cover commercial applications of this technology including electronic commerce, secure electronic payments, electronic data interchange and electronic marketing.
