Other topics include the interrelationship of heredity and environment; cognitive and socialization processes; learning and teaching styles; conflict resolution; and family, peer and media influences on growth in a culturally diverse society.     This course will be devoted to the study of the basic principles and processes involved in the making of the outer crust of the Earth. In its initiall phases the emphasis will be placed on the study of common rocks and minerals. Subsequent lecture, laboratory and field work will lend itself to the physiographic interpretation of topographic maps featuring a variety of landscapes in the United States. (3hrs lecture - 2 hrs lab.)

    This course emphasizes the methods, materials, and philosophy needed to become an effective science teacher at the secondary school level. Candidates for teacher certification will briefly review content knowledge in the sciences prior to developing pratice lessons and units that include assessment activities, intergration of appropriate instructional technologies, and strategies to meet the needs of diverse learners. The course include an examination of current curricular reform movements and consideration of their impact on science education in secondary schools. In addition, the implications of states, national, and international tests and standards on student development will be considered. This course will be taught by science faculty. Candidates must recieve a grade of "B" or higher in order to enroll in student teaching.

    Designed to accomplish the major objectives of (1) imparting the basic understanding necessary for persons preparing for a real estate career, (2) serving as a foundation for advanced specialized courses, (3) providing consumer ownership investment information and (4) satisfying Connecticut's license examination prequisite for real estate salespersons.
