Examines the history of cinema from its 19th-century origins until the early sound era. Explores important developments and influences in American and international cinema, including the origins of Hollywood narrative, avant-garde cinema, German Expressionism, and Soviet Cinema. Prereq: Must have 30 semester hours or permission of the instructor.

An intensive study of films of one or more significant genres, such as comedy, film noir, science fiction. Prereq: Must have 30 semester hours or permission of the instructor. Note: May be taken more than once when genres vary.
