(3.0 Units) (No prerequisite. Three lecture hours weekly.) The goal of this course is to increase students' skills in logical argument and ethical persuasion in verbal communication. Students learn how to analyze and use verifiable evidence, sound reasoning, and effective rhetorical appeals. The class will sharpen abilities to detect careless inferences and fallacies in oral language. Students will practice these skills in individual and group speaking projects. Critical review of governance structure of the college and the district and comparison to other college governance structures.
