Natural Sciences Fieldwork is a two credit, one-semester course designed for a prospective secondary science teachers. The course will provide participants with planned, structured experiences in departmentalized classrooms during their undergraduate program. Planned collaboratively by subject matter faculty in the student's area of emphasis (Biology, Chemistry, Physics), teacher education faculty, and representatives from a school district, introductory classroom experiences will include student familiarization with Standards-based science subject matter across secondary grade levels. Students will meet with program faculty to discuss their observations regarding the culture of the secondary classroom, and to reflect upon the differences and similarities in their undergraduate experience and the secondary school classroom.
