(Formerly known as: D A 230) Advisories: Digital Arts G103 Using a 3D Modeling program, this course is an introduction to the design and planning of objects and lettering to be built into the wire frame components of computer animation. The student will create the parts that will combine to form such complex forms as wire frame objects, feature characters or title lettering. The objects will then be covered with surface material and rendered as a single frame 3D object for desktop publishing or put into an animated sequence to become a segment in a computer animation project. Lecture & lab. Optional pass/no pass or grade. Transferable to CSU.

The history, concepts and theory behind digital media as well as the production process, digital techniques, camera and recording basics, video and audio fundamentals, digital arts will be surveyed. This course may be taken 2 times.

This course covers audio theory, tracking, mixing, and mastering techniques using digital audio workstation systems in more detail. Lab experiences include editing, processing, mixing, and mastering projects. May be taken 3 times.

This course covers audio post-production, including recording and mixing sound effects, music, dialogue, and surround sound mixing for synchronization to picture using current industry standard audio and video editing software. May be taken 3 times. Advisory: Digital Media G110

This course provides hands-on instruction in techniques and procedures used in media production. Topics include the production process, scriptwriting, directing, audio/sound, lighting and design, camera operation, and recording. May be taken 3 times.

Theory and techniques in digital editing, motion graphics and DVD authoring using the Final Cut Pro Suite will be covered. Topics include assembling, editing digital audio/video sequences, creating motion graphics, and DVD authoring. May be taken 3 times.

This is a capstone course for students preparing for a career in digital media. Students create projects using audio, video, and digital arts skills to be included in professional level products. This course may be taken 3 times.

For students desiring extra CAD lab hours. The student will perform exercises which will be assigned in one of the prerequisite classes. This course may be taken 4 times.

4.00 Credits
A survey of the basic fundamentals of drafting using the most current version of AutoCAD software. The course is designed for the first time drafting student with no previous CAD experience. The course includes free hand sketching, interpreting blueprints, drawing layout, multi-view projection and dimensioning. This course may be taken 2 times.

The course will cover the study of correct letter styles for drafting, geometric construction, multi-view projection, basic dimensioning, threads & fasteners, isometric drawing and single auxiliary projection. All drafting problems will be drawn using computer aided drafting, (CAD), with AutoCAD software. This course may be taken 2 times.
