A course in elementary French grammar, vocabulary, and pronunciation which focuses on understanding, speaking, reading, and writing simple French and serves as an introduction to the geography, history, and culture of the French-speaking world. 90 lecture hours.

    Prerequisite: FREN 101 or two years of high school French. Strongly recommended: READ 099 if required by reading placement or if required by reading level. A further study of the elementary French grammar and vocabulary which develops understanding, speaking, reading, and writing skills. Includes additional study of French. 90 lecture hours.

    Prerequisite: FREN 102 or two years of high school French. Strongly recommended: READ 099 if required by reading placement exam or if required by reading level. A course that introduces intermediate level French curriculum by presenting more advanced vocabulary, grammatical concepts, and cultural perspectives. Affords opportunities to apply communication skills to new social, professional, and travel contexts. Reading strategies and fundamentals of formal composition are introduced in conjunction with short, level-appropriate literary selections. 72 lecture hours.

    Strongly recommended: READ 099 if required by reading placement exam or if required by reading level. A course emphasizing the development of effective skills for reading, understanding, and interpreting more advanced readings in French literature and culture. Extensive practice in oral and written expression at the intermediate-high level provided. Grammatical concepts are thoroughly reviewed and expanded. 72 lecture hours.
  • 3.00 Credits

    Strongly recommended: READ 099 if required by reading placement exam or if required by reading level. A study of the patterns of human occupation and land use over the earth's surface and their co-relation with the natural environment. Particular emphasis will be given to agricultural and industrial economics, settlement patterns and population studies. 54 lecture hours.
