Using a variety of literary genres, including short fiction, novel, poetry, drama, and film, students will critically analyze cultural roles and images of women from a variety of theoretical perspectives. Students will explore the challenges women have faced, the biologically and socially constructed roles they have assumed and sometimes rejected, and the successes and accomplishments they have achieved in a predominantly patriarchal climate.
