Art History 42A: B, C History of Asian Art

A one-year survey of painting, sculpture, architecture and other artifacts in various regions of Asia. Starts with prehistory in 42A (fall quarter) and concludes with modern art in the twentieth century in 42C (spring quarter). Topics include neolithic excavations, pan-Asiatic transmissions of art, developments of art in China and Japan. Each course may be taken separately, or as part of the series. ( IV, VIII)
