LEC 4 Credits 4 Periods Montessori philosophy of education and principles of child development with emphasis on the 6-12 aged child. Comparison with contemporary theories of education. Areas and elements of Montessori Elementary classroom management. Montessori Mathematics I with focus on the history of numbers, linear concepts, the decimal system, the first part of arithmetic studies, fractions, and supplemental math concepts. Prerequisites: A 4-year college degree and ECH176 or equivalent child development course, Montessori 2.5-6 Certification or ECH100, and permission of the Montessori Elementary Program Director. Corequisites: EDM111.

Grammar studies with focus on The Parts and Functions of Speech, and Sentence Analysis. Prerequisites: A 4-year college degree and ECH176 or equivalent child development course, Montessori 2.5-6 Certification or ECH100, and permission of the Montessori Elementary Program Director.
