LEC 4 Credits 4 Periods Montessori philosophy of education and principles of child development with emphasis on the 6-12 aged child. Comparison with contemporary theories of education. Areas and elements of Montessori Elementary classroom management. Montessori Mathematics I with focus on the history of numbers, linear concepts, the decimal system, the first part of arithmetic studies, fractions, and supplemental math concepts. Prerequisites: A 4-year college degree and ECH176 or equivalent child development course, Montessori 2.5-6 Certification or ECH100, and permission of the Montessori Elementary Program Director. Corequisites: EDM111.

LEC 4 Credits 4 Periods Language Arts studies with focus on word study activities, reading skills, writing skills, and supplemental language areas. Grammar studies with focus on The Parts and Functions of Speech, and Sentence Analysis. Prerequisites: A 4-year college degree and ECH176 or equivalent child development course, Montessori 2.5-6 Certification or ECH100, and permission of the Montessori Elementary Program Director. Corequisites: EMD110.
