PREREQUISITE or COREQUISITE: MTH 227 An introduction to numerical methods, qualitative behavior of first order differential equations, techniques for solving separable and linear equations analytically, and applications to various models (e.g. populations, motion, chemical mixtures, etc.); techniques for solving higher order linear differential equations with constant coefficients (general theory, undetermined coefficients, reduction of order and the method of variation of parameters), with emphasis on interpreting the behavior of the solutions, and applications to physical models whose governing equations are of higher order; and the Laplace transform as a tool for the solution of initial value problems whose inhomogeneous terms are discontinuous. PREREQUISITE: MTH 100 or appropriate placement score. This course provides an introduction to methods of statistics, including the following topics: sampling, frequency distributions, measures of central tendency, graphic representation, reliability, hypothesis testing, confidence intervals, analysis, regression, estimation, and applications. Probability, permutations, combinations, binomial theorem, random variables, and distributions may be included.

COREQUISITE: MTH 227 This course is designed to accompany a Calculus III Course. It provides a laboratory setting in which students receive individualized instruction, work on laboratory exercises and group projects. Emphasis will be on applications of mathematics.

Group instruction is available in voice and piano for students with little or no previous training. Emphasis is placed on the rudiments of music, basic performance technique and general musicianship skills. Upon completion of one or a sequence of courses, students should be able to demonstrate a basic proficiency in singing or playing and a knowledge of music fundamentals.

PREREQUISITE: Advisor approval. This course includes the study of musical theatre history, styles, perf o rmance and technical production. Emphasis is placed on the supervised study, preparation, production and performances of scenes or complete works of musical theatre. Upon completion, students should be able to effectively participate in a public presentation of the prepared scenes or work in an assigned performance or technical role.
