This course provides participation in ongoing programs in occupational therapy providing services to persons with physical disabilities or psychosocial dysfunction emphasizing client evaluation, treatment planning and implementation. Prerequisites: OCTH 0430

1st and 2nd Semester. Summer. Post-graduation. Six (6) months full-time supervised experience. 0 credit. placement in agencies/facilities serving persons with psychosocial dysfunction (3 months) and physical dysfunction (3 months). Fieldwork must be completed within 24 months of graduation. Prerequisites: OCTH 0319, 0430, and 0431

1st Semester. Lect. 3, Lab 3, 4 credits. This course deals with the classification, morphology, life history, mode of transmission, pathogenicity, control, and diseases caused by parasites of importance in animals. Emphasis is placed on the identification of parasites and the diagnosis of parasitic diseases.

1st Semester. Lect. 3, Lab 3, 4 credits. This course deals with basic and fundamental disease processes referable to and affecting the body as a whole. Emphasis is placed on the base knowledge and applied skills needed for logical reasoning when solving problems related to clinical medicine and surgery. Predisposing factors, etiologic agents, pathogenesis, and lesions are included in the discussions. Prerequisites: ANAT 0302 and ANAT 0310.

2nd Semester. Lect 3, Lab 0, 3 credits. This course is a continuation of PATH 426 General Pathology; and it builds upon the student=s knowledge of basic pathologic alterations that occur in the body as a whole. Emphasis is placed on diseases that involve specific tissues and organ systems. Information is provided relative to etiolgic factors, pathogenesis, pathologic anatomy, clinical findings, and the pathophysiology of disease. The fundamental disease processes studied in VM 426 are applied on a system basis. Prerequisites: PATH 0426.

2nd Semester. Lect. O, Lab 3, 1 credit. This laboratory course correlates with PATH 0427 and with PATH 0429. Emphasis is placed on practical exercises related to concepts and principles involved in the morphologic and clinical pathology findings in disease.

2nd Semester. Lect. 3, Lab 0, 3 credits. This course is designed to provide in-depth discussions in hematology, blood clinical chemistry, urinalysis, cytology, fluid, electrolyte and acid-base balance. Laboratory sessions are utilized to provide hands-on experience in clinical instrumentation, and to provide case oriented problem-solving experiences. Prerequisites: PATH 0426.

2nd Semester, Summer. Lect. 3, 3 credits. A survey of the subject areas, methods, vocabulary, and historical development of philosophy. Students are exposed to the thinking of the major philosophers in the history of philosophy. The perennial philosophical issues such as human freedom, power, love, and truth are discussed. The objective of the course is to provide an elemental knowledge of philosophy in general.

1st Semester, Summer. Lect. 3, 3 credits. This course is an examination of the major ethical theories that have been developed throughout the history of Western philosophy. These theories are given a philosophical context. The course will concentrate on the relationship of traditional ethics to current ethical problems.
